Aluminum in Your Deodorant is Not Worth the Risk

Antiperspirants and Deodorant

Antiperspirants may contain ammonia, formaldehyde, fragrance but a major concern is the ingredient aluminum chlorohydrate. This ingredient can cause infections in the hair follicle in the armpit. There is also a rising concern that aluminum salts might contribute to a buildup of aluminum in the body. Aluminum has been linked to Alzheimer's disease.

Research is also indicating that there may be a link between breast cancer and antiperspirants because the fatty tissue in breasts is a great storehouse for storing toxic chemicals. Women also tend to shave which opens up the hair follicles even more allowing toxins to penetrate easier.

Aluminum is a Known Toxin In 1993, the World Health Organization said, "There is a suspected link between Alzheimer's disease and the toxicity of aluminum." The Agency for Toxic Substances and & Disease Registry reports that "Exposure to high levels of aluminum may result in respiratory and neurological problems."

Antiperspirants prohibit you from perspiring, thereby inhibiting the body from purging toxins. These toxins get stored in the body and accumulate with adverse consequences and potentially long lasting ramifications.

Deodorants are slightly better because the goal is to stop bacteria that cause the odor but don't prevent you from sweating.

It is easy to make the switch to a healthier lifestyle by starting with something as simple as switching your deodorant. Look for labels that state "aluminum free" on their labels. Some popular alternatives:
